Replication/High Availability

Could someone who has already done this research give me a brief rundown of who the major players/solutions for high availability/replication of an Oracle8 server on Solaris are? And how these solutions differ from Advanced Replication from Oracle? And, if you have one, your opinion of each? Thanks, I'm just looking for a starting place for my research.
