Use of an ODBC driver with a server based request broker component such as OpenLink will allow you to do this and more. You can down load a demo at http://www.openlinksw.com. You'll want to get the "multi-tier" version of their drivers.

Among the many advantages of this type of product has over "native" ODBC drivers is that you can define custom SQL to be executed upon each connection. This can vary by user, client name/IP address, application name, etc.
