RMANproblems on Linux

Hi,

I ve installed Oracle8i on Linux 6.0 Red Hat. I tried to use RMAN for backup and recovery, but Unfortunately without success!!
When I issue command
Register Database,
the following error occurs:
RMAN-10031:ORA-65535: Error occured during call to DBMS_BACKUP_RESTORE.DEVICE
The same error but while calling DBMS_BACKUP_RESTORE.Getparam occured when I try to
allocate channel or execure run command in RMAN??? ANy idea, what the problem could be??
