Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> HPOpenview OPC runs out of memory
Hi all,
Got a call to go out to a client yesterday - my first time with this particular customer. They are running HP-UX with Oracle8i, and HPOpenView. (I haven't any idea of the versions of software, except oracle)
At first glance it seemed like a straight-forward 30 minute fix. The administrator had been out of town for a week, and the thing (opc) had hung because: They had errors referring to no room on rollback segment R01. So, messages had been queueing for approx. 7 days. Okay, no prob, extended the tablespace, shrank the rollback segments, rebooted. At first it looked like this would be the fix - but when it brought the message browser up, it puked - same error. But when I checked, the rollback segments hadn't been touched - still at their shrunk size - about 1Mb each. SO - the admin deleted the queue message file (about 435 MB) and we rebooted, and started opc again. This time we got a 'snapshot too old' error. Okay, dropped all of the RBSs and then created one large one that could extend out to 105 MB. Tried it all again. OpC error, due to database problems, out of memory.
So, I checked the initopenview.ora file and between the Shared Pool and database buffers, there was only 10 MB allotted out of 1GB of RAM on the system. I modified the initopenview.ora to portion out 580 MB - half of the available memory. Rebooted, opened the opc message browser - same Out Of Memory error. HELP!?
The above is the extent of my familiarity with Openview. At this point I recommended to the guy that he call the HP OpenView support people since this appeared (to me) to be an OpenView problem. Does anyone have a clue?
Thanks in advance.
