That's what I actually did. I've installed it 3 times since Tuesday, every time following another "howto"-homepage, but I never succeded in creating a new database. I've read in dejanews almost every article I found to oracle etc. and it helped me alot, but concerning this error, I haven't found anything...
I get this Java exception when I run dbassist in a consol, when I click on it in the filemanager I get the error message about the char set too and then, another one telling that it cannot be recognized whether the installation was successfull or whether there are files missing. Please check whether the oracle products have been installed completley (something like that, I translated it from german).
