Is the "hot standby" feature you mention something that is inherent to Oracle on Sun or is it an add on. I have been tasked with coming up with a fail-over scheme for two Sun boxes in a cluster configuration to minimize down time, but basically it appears that there are few people who have ever dealt with this successfully.

I'm basically interested in either an automatic switchover to s atandby instance or to a scheme which will start an instance that access shadowed database files/redo logs (I realize that the control files would have to be different). Received on Tue Jan 25 2000 - 06:44:26 CST
