coldfusion and Blob

Can any help? I am using coldfusion to develop sites and want to store
pictures in a database. i am using oracle 7.3 and cold fusion 4.1. Does
anyone have any experience extracting BLOB data types? Or is the simplest
method to simply reference to a stored file on a server?
