Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Oracle 8i and NT (newbie needs help)
I am posting this to both "comp.databases.oracle.misc" and
"comp.os.ms-windows.nt.misc". I apologize for the duplication, but part
of this is oracle and part is NT and there is a lot of overlap, so I was
not sure which was better ...
Oracle 8.1.5 (8i) on NT4, SP5
I want to _completely_ remove Oracle from this system (prior to a
reinstall). The "Oracle Installer" seems to uninstall Oracle, but cannot
remove the 'services' (which include a "Listener" and some old Oracle
"instances" from prev installs). A check of the Registry
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG, have references to Oracle in
various places: software, system/ControlSet001, system/ControlSet003,
system/CurrentControlSet, and I don't know where else). There does not
seem to be any Oracle documentation on getting rid of this stuff (at least
i haven't seen any). Is it really necessary to go through the entire
Registry searching for and removing every reference to "oracle" or what?
That would seem ... well, let's just say it seems "inelegant". I assume
I've just missed something in either the Oracle or NT documentation about
removing services. Any help will be welcome.
