I am interested in finding any major city in the world, where these ratios are different. Do you know of any?
There are many useful databases in the world. I am confident there are technically superior dbs for each market class I mentioned. Since my time is the most precious resource I have I will invest it where I will receive the most benefit.
What are the criteria for a successful db system?
Power
widely used
built in functionality
growing and changing
what else?

I queried amazon.com for programming language books published after 1999.
language hits
C 39 C++ 37 java 48 vb 34 fortran 2 cobol 1 perl 16 javascript 13 html 14 sql 28 ada 1 lisp 1 prolog 2 eiffel 0 smalltalk 0 python 2 tcl 4 pl1 0
A craftsman is known by his tools.
What are the criteria for a worthy language? A language should compensate for human frailness

Netscape has been consistently losing market share the past 2 years and ie's
market share has been consistently growing. Given the nature of humanity and
ms marketing strategy; the technically inferior, but commercially superior
product will dominate.

You got me, I know squat about networking. How do network protocols rank?
I'm sure there are some that are more efficient on a lan vs a wan, some are
more secure, some are more robust, some are better for various bandwidths.
