Hello everyone,

RE: Project stocks having problems.

Background:
3 days ago, everything was acting correctly and well, ie. our program to decode the raw data feed from stock exchange.

But 2 days ago, problem exists. The program starts to act slowly. Until last night, we are able to isolate the problem, i.e. the query to Oracle has slowdown.

We cannot pinpoint Oracle but have couple of these questions.

  1. We have started our db for about a month already. We cleared out tables everyday. Why is it that the performances of the database is very slow ?
  2. The size of the rollback segments is 500M now, is this a reasonable size? How do i go about tuning it ?
  3. Any ways of increasing the performances of the database within a few days?
  4. noticed that the rollback segment increases when we clear all our tables, why ?
  5. could it be the cpu problem too ?

I would like to hear from you if you have suggestions/feedback. I would also
appreciate if you can direct these to some of your expert friends.

Meanwhile, i am waiting/looking for an oracle consultant. If you know any, please let me know. Thanks.

Regards,
John Wong
