Extended Procedures with 8i Client

I am attempted to execute a stored procedure (from a client machine) that
import images into an 8.1.5 database.  This procedure uses ORDSYS objects
that are apparently located in extended procedures.  When executing from the
client (not the server), I am receiving an ORA-168575 error stating that
Oracle cannot open an RPC connection.  Any clues?
