Moving a database from one machine to another

I need to move an Oracle 8 database from one computer to another because
of some hardware upgrades.  I'm going to be running the same version of
Oracle on the new machine.  Whats the proper way to do this?  Backup
then Recovery somehow?  Thanks for any help you can give.
