Converting to PL/SQL

Hello,

Finally everyone is beginning to listen to me. We are converting about 50 COBOL programs to PL/SQL. I have a couple of questions though. I am trying to find the equivalent to the IS NUMERIC test in COBOL. Is there such a thing in PL/SQL.

Also, what about the COBOL verb INSPECT. Does PL/SQL have such a feature?
