Hi,
First try to ping your machine.
If this works, then try "tnsping80". This should be installed with the Oracle
Client Software (SQLNet)
Syntax:
tnsping80 Servicename
The servicename should be defined in your tnsnames.ora
This File should be in:
/ORANT/NET80/ADMIN
(Depends on where you installed the Software)
If there is a reply then it works, if not then you have to modify your tnsnames.ora
