I need to know if it is possible for Oracle to return my unique session id when in a SQL*NET Window and what the command is to do it, also I would need something similar when I login through visual basic.

For example, when I login programmatically through VB, I need oracle to tell me what my SID is, ie my unique record in v$session.

This is not "look in v$session for your computer name etc", I can't believe its that hard in oracle to do something like a visual basic MsgBox user.sid?

Any ideas. I can't find anything.....how do other people get the same job done.

Any ideas would help,
Grasping at straws....
