Depending on your Oracle license, you are probably entitled to run
Oracle client software on whatever clients you want.

Certainly the most straightforward way to access Oracle.

Sure, but since ODBC is just an API, you'll need to install and
configure some kind of middleware. I've used Openlink Software.
