Oracle rdb bad transaction handle

We're running Oracle rdb version 6.1-13 on a VAX platform under VMS 6.2, and received the following error last night:

%RDB-E-ARITH_EXCEPT, truncation of a numeric value at runtime
%RDB-E-BAD_TRANS_HANDL, invalid transaction handle

The error caused the user process to stop (I can't determine if this was trapped properly by the program's error handling), but it subsequently restarted without error and no other processes that were attached to the database were affected.
Has anybody come across anything similar before?
