Bryn,

     One thing that you may want to consider is working in a position where Oracle Application Financials is used. Your Payroll and Auditing background would be a such a substantial benefit that a new employer would be more willing to train then in a straight DBA job.

     Benefits would be exposure to the Oracle DB with all the associated tools and you can test the water for your desire to become a DBA. And the pay would be more likely to reflect your functional financial experience.
