We have a 8.1.5(Sun) database with many synoyms pointing
to a 7.1.5(OpenVMS) database which actually contains the tables.
We are having problems inserting nulls through an insert
statement on the 8.1.5(SUN) to the 7.1.5(OpenVMS) tables.
We can insert nulls in any number field,
only varchar2's are giving us a problem. We are temporarily using
a single space instead of a null.(ugh!) The nvl() function when
used on 8.1.5 in a select statement pointing through the
same synonyms also do not work. Has anyone heard of or seen this
strange behavior of nulls, insert statements and nvl()?
