I installed oracle 8 on my NT machine.  I created the database using the
database assistant.  Do you have this option? I believe you should.  Check
start,oracle for win95, oracle database assistant. Once you get it running,
sqlplus should work.  Try  


system/manager and use "beq-local" as your host string ( you may not need this
host string, but just in case).  Hope it helps.
