Three weeks? They are getting big, eh?
You need to verify the characterset of your database is WE8ISO8859P1.
This is the so-called Latin-1 alphabet and covers diacritical characters for
the major West-European languages.
You also need to make sure your systems use characterset 850, instead of the
default 437.
The characterset of the database can be retrieved by select * from prop$
(or props$, not sure about this)
