Hi Petrovic,

You will get several answers for this question, each one pointing specific features.

Oracle is platform independent, while Microsoft SQL is limited to Windows.
Oracle has extensive experience with failover databases, either using standby (Oracle8 Server FailSafe) or online (Oracle7 and up Parallel Server).
Reliability, accessibility, serviceability and scalability: can be used from palmtop 3Com Palm Pilot to high performance and high availability servers such as Compaq Himalaya, Compaq Alpha Servers and Sun Starfire.

Both database and development tools are mature. Although Microsoft is doing a good job, it is just starting a serious approach to this market.
