We’ve tried to migrate from NT to Linux with Oracle Web Application Server
3.0.
OWAS 3.0.1AE with SQL*NET client 2.3.3.0.0 was installed on NT server 4 SP3
and OWAS 3.0.2 with Net8 8.0.5.0.0 was on RH Linux 5.1 (kernel 2.0.35). Each
was configured to work with Oracle8EE 8.0.5.1.0 for Linux.
We’ve found that response time on Linux dramatically increased. If generated
html page is small then load takes about 10 secs, in other case data is
transmitted to a browser in portions of approximately 58K with delay more
then 10 secs before each. For example 238K loads from OWAS on LINUX during
more then 3 minutes, while OWAS on NT returns it in 4 secs max.
