Hi,
it's a LOT of work. I have just migrated a 10.7 NLS German Financials running on a single Server with Oracle 7.3.3.6 to 11.0.2 (plus a lot of patches) running on two servers (one for DB 8.05.1 and one for OAS 3.0.2, Forms and CP), all on IBM AIX 4.
It tooks about 4 month (including the time to understood the concepts behind NCA and learning about OAS) and I made the upgrade three times, finishing - hopefully - with the production upgrade today in the morning.   The basic steps are:
0. read all provided docs VERY carefully and create a doc including all relevant steps and ask your local support for additional docs (there are some!)
1. create a upgrade/test system on another machine using a full offline backup
2. remove all customizations on Application database objects to bring it back to standard
3. migrate your Oracle 7 DB to V8 (-> Migration handbook, provided with V8). Personally I used the MIG-tool without any problems. 4. Install OAS and forms server and all related patches. Test it 5. Upgrade Applications following the Upgrade and readme docs (There are Pre- and Post- upgrade steps to do in O*F!)

6. Test the resulting system
7. Re-implement all customizatíons
8. do a test of ALL needed/used Functionality
9. patch until all is working properly ....

  1. Make a second upgrade to check the workarounds you need to avoid all errors occured at the first time and test the results (for example: the FDFCMP is buggy, with the result that you cannot compile all descriptive flexfields in a single run. Workaround: replace it with an empty shell script and compile the flexfields one by one after Install)

  Some other things:

  At last:
The first and second try took about two weeks, the last only 4 days and - I think - you don't need NLS and MRC, so it may be possible to complete the upgrade in about half the time I spend.   If you need further informations, you can E-Mail me until next tuesday (I NEED some holliday) at office under jlietz_at_stadthagen.faurecia.com

 Good luck,
