I don't know about Mac. But if you go to http://technet.oracle.com you can download
free software (Database, Developer tools, Webserver and so on). As long you use it
for developing it's free ! They work fine on NT.
ORACLE can be run for Internet as well. Just the Database with other webserver or the Oracle webserver with the Oracle Database. Then you need just to know some PL/SQL (Programlanguage for SQL). With the desinger 6.0 you can just generate your webapplication. Fully functionaly !
You could do it. But it would take some time to learn all the stuff. It's might best to buy some nice books. go to www.amazon.com
