Job Title - Oracle Database Administrator

     Tribune Information Systems finds innovative ways to employ technology

     for strategic advantage and to develop products and services with a
     focus on creating and publishing content across multi-media
including
     print, video and the Internet. We currently have an opening for an
     Oracle Database Engineer in the Enterprise Systems and Security
Group.
     The primary role and responsibility of the person in this position
is
     to provide production support for Oracle systems in the data
     center.This includes installing and building new Oracle servers,
     creating relevant monitoring software for the Oracle server that
     interfaces with our existing monitoring software, troubleshooting
     production problems, performance tuning of the server and assisting
     project groups with questions on the Oracle product family.
Secondary
     responsibilities include Oracle engineering work and development
     support for Oracle systems. This person should also have the
ability
     to educate other members of DBServices in Oracle products.

     SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :


     *Manage support and service for production Oracle systems including


     PeopleSoft HR/Benefits/Payroll/Finance.


     *Assist developers with data modeling and database design.


     *Daily database administration, creation, performance tuning,


backup
     and recovery of Oracle systems.


     *Develop, maintain and manage utilities for monitoring and


maintaining
     the Oracle databases.


     *Creation of tables, views, indexes, clusters, sequences, triggers,


     snapshots and PL/SQL coding packages, procedures and functions as
     necessary.


     *Provide some after hours or weekend support for maintenance of the


     databases.


     *Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of


Technical
     Operations.

     QUALIFICATIONS:
     Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred.
     Four + years of experience in Oracle administration and design on
the
     UNIX platform.
     Working knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL required.
     Ability to troubleshoot Oracle software and configuration problems,
     and the ability to coach others to do the same is important.
     Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with
     both IS and user organizations.
     Must be able to think and problem solve creatively. Process
     improvement experience is important.
     Experience with backup, recovery, performance monitoring and tuning
     would be beneficial.
     Excellent communications skills required. Marketing experience or
     understanding of marketing principles would be beneficial.
