export/import partitions

If i export a partition at the back end of the table (according to partition key) and then drop the partition, can i just re-import that partition.

I was thinking that it is easier to just truncate the partitions, and re-import just the data into the partitions. Because i dont believe you can add partitions on the rear because they will not collate correctly?

Any experts to give their sage advice on this matter. Thanks,
P.
