We had similar problems also... NT SP3 running on Proliant 7000 with 4 processors, etc. Yes I agree, a real OS would have been better, but that was not my decision. Resolution, at least most of the time, when we downloaded some patches from Oracle. Make sure all are up to date for your version as well as any hardware patches. Compaq had some for our RAID that we also needed.
