Auto Reduce For Query

Does anyone know how to incorporate "auto reduce" functionality into a forms field?

ie A user begins typing in a string and it causes the selection in a list to advance to the closest match as they type. It's the same functionality that is used within an Oracle LOV. As you type in the search field the LOV jumps to the closest match. It's also used the Index page of the Help file system.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've got to assume that someone in almighty Oracle realm has come across this before.
