ODBC/Large column performance problem

Situation: We are running Oracle Server 7.3.3, Oracle ODBC Driver2.573.3513. We have a table that has a large "LONG RAW" column --  typically 32K - 1MB per entry. When using an ODBC MoveNext() call, it takes around two seconds to step between each row (even on the 32K entries). We have no other performance problems in our system to speak of. I am wondering if there are any size settings that would improve this? Are there any ODBC cache settings that should be changed? Or any Oracle cache settings? Has anyone else ever seen this performance problem?

Thanks!
Mike Johnson
