I have never used oracle before. I am in a position where I will be using oracle at work, so I decided to install the copy I have at home. The installation went fine, but when I rebooted, I noticed the disk thrashing...turned on the task manager, and noticed it was at 300 megs of memory usage for a few seconds, then it dropped all the way to 275. What's up? Do you need a gig of memory to run the server? This is pretty much a default install with a few extra java options checked.

What is wrong? Does oracle normally require a machine with greater than 256mb memory to run?

Thanks for any info...
