A few qeustions from an outside person

I hope to be a member of this big family. I am considering the DBA track.
A few questions:

1. Who knows Jason Couchman's website? I have bought his book that has lots of errors. I need a good errata.
2. I am planning to take Oracle8 exams. Can I use Oracle8i software for running code snippets from Jason Couchman's book that is for Oracle8? What is the relationship between Oracle8 and Oracle8i?
3. Is Oracle8i exam is still in beta?
