Actually for GL you could do it through GLDI via an Excel spreadsheet which automates much of the interfacing.

All true. However the ERDs on the Technical Reference Manuals would certainly help in understanding how and where your data goes after being processed.

As I said they also include the ERDs, indexes, sequences, dependencies, user exits, packages and so on.
