Help: MRP II

I don't know much about database, expecially the industry of database. But my friend wants to know something about the following questions, please give any piece of information, thank you very much.

Can you give me some brief introduction of Oracle cor.? Is there any other database cor. similar to Oracle (in scale, or in technology)? Could you please tell me something about the Consultant Cor. of Oracle, and especially their history?
What is MRP II? How do the enterprises of America adopt MRP II? What is the characteristics of the enterprises which use MRP II or which kind of enterprises use MRP II?
