public synonym v$session_event

Hi
Here is a situation which surprises me ...

The public synonym v$session_event is for sys.v_$session_event Looking at DBA_SYNONYMS) which is a view owned by sys. ( Looking at DBA_OBJECTS ) If U look at the definition of this view it selects from v$session_event. ( Looking at DBA_VIEWS )

How do U explain it ? I carried the queries in Oracle 7.3.2 and on AIX 4.1
