Oracle contract work

i'm looking for advice re contracting in oracle

i am a computer software contractor, (currently using a development tool called objectstar), and have been for approx 3 years. prior to that i had experience in cobol. i'd like to cross-train to oracle, and find work using that.
if i was to go on an oracle course what do you think my chances would be in securing a contract in oracle, considering i would not have actual commercial experience in oracle. there wouldn't be much point in me putting myself on a course if there is no way of getting a contract at the end of it.
