OCP Practice (and possible actual) tests

I've noticed a few notes in here about the OCP testing materials, but NOTHING about the actual use of the materials and/or the testing process...

Has anyone using the SelfTest Software practice tests noticed some rather glaring inaccuracies? For example, a question may ask which dictionary table contains the source code for an object, and give as the correct answer a table that contains NO source code.

There also appear to be quite a few spelling inaccuracies and references to objects with different names than those used in the answers.

Now, none of this would be particularly important EXCEPT that the nature of quite a few of these questions is so deep in minutae rather than determining whether you know how to use SQL or write PL/SQL code that what would normally be ignorable inconsistencies become significant...

I printed out several of the more curious questions that seemed innacurate and attempted to contact STS to have them either correct my probable misunderstandings...

Unfortunately, all I could get was a receptionist who told me anything that was a possible error would have to be sent by e-mail. She then gave me an address, which when sent an e-mail rejected it! So, I made a second phone call with the same results, although I got a different e-mail address. BUT, in retrospect, if they don't care enough to put a live human on the phone to check these out, then they don't care a whole lot.

I'd suggest that anyone using these tests NOT believe the answers without checking them out......... Review EVERY question it says you got wrong and GET CONFIRMATION using the actual Oracle interface.

BUT, when the same question shows up on the actual test, do you put the wrong answer that the practice test thinks is right, or do you put the actual correct answer on the test and HOPE someone figured out the practice was wrong and corrected it for the test? Did anybody from Oracle check these tests out to VERIFY the accuracy of the questions and answers? Knowing Oracle, is that a really DUMB question?    Received on Thu Dec 03 1998 - 20:05:27 CST
