Oracle V8.0.3 with Windows 98

I've installed the client software from the Oracle8 for NT (V8.0.3) CD onto a Windows 98 machine. When I run SQLPlus, it pops up a window telling me that this product is not compatible with Windows 98. When I chose to run it anyway, it crashes with a General Protection Fault. Any other attempts to use the driver also cause a similar crash. I've downloaded the latest ODBC updates from the Oracle Web site, but it doesn't seem to help.

I've noticed that other people here claim the this works on Windows 98. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
