I have just finnished an MSc connversion course into computer science, and have discovered that databases are something I want to know more about. I understand SQL, relational algebra, but dont know, how much more I need to know, to get a job or to see a bennifit.

Is Oracle the standard relational database? Access must be making inroads?

Should I get Oracle at home?

How can I get it on CD? as I am no longer at University so the internet is not an option, living at pairents homes again, till I get a job!

Is there any disadvantage to the linux port over MS win95?

Is it worth learning to use a relational database system at all, when I know ANSI C well enough?

What are the job prospects like?

Can you use Oracle as a Data structure CASE tool? (this may be a stupid question)

what language complements Oracle best, Java, perl, etc?

Thanking any replys in advance, if you could reply by Email I would be most apresative.

Owen
