Oracle 8 defines the new LOB column types (Long Object). They come in the following basic varities:
Binary LOB (BLOB)
Character LOB (CLOB)
OS File reference (BFILE)

you can have up to the max number of columns allowed in a table to all be of one or more of these types (i.e. 500 BLOB and 500 CLOB columns). The restriction still exists though for columns of type LONG or LONG RAW of 1/table. Received on Thu Nov 12 1998 - 11:22:53 CST
