PO8 should be OK for what you want. There are some distinctions though. The SID is stored in the registry, not as an environmental variable, for instance. If you want a UNIX feel to it, you might try a Linux partition and install Oracle on that -- set up is just like on your server's box. For basic development, PO on NT should be OK, though, particularly if you want to develop for windows (i.e.MS-windows aka dos, not X-windows)
