ORA-01031

Hi there:

I have a strange problem. I have a role granted to a user which contains an INSERT on table XXX. Funny thing is that when the user goes to insert on table XXX they get the INSUFFICENT PRIVLIGES (ORA-01031) message. Now, if I give them a direct grant insert on table XXX, they have no problem inserting into the table. This should not be necessary since the role contains the grant, true?

We are running ORACLE 7.3.3 on WINDOWS NT version 4.0 (SP3).

Any help would indeed be much appreciated.
