Can anyone out there help me?

We are in the process of defining our hardware architecture for a new 7X24 application. This is a mission critical app, which calls for a high level of fail safe redundancy.

Having said this, we will have two machines available, so that one can take over if the other fails. Rather than have one machine sit idle, we want to implement Oracle parallel server.

I've been researching the Oracle doc, and am somewhat confused as to which configuration is best suited for our situation.

We know, we will definitley have disk sharing between machines, for the database. My delimma is, do we also use shared memory or stand alone memory? Does each machine have it's own instance of the database, if memory is not shared?

Thank you for your input. Received on Wed Sep 09 1998 - 13:32:04 CDT
