Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> datafile corrupt?
Hello all,
I have a problem regarding Oracle on NT (actually Oracle 8.0.4, but the question should be general):
I ran a query to delete selective data from a large table, and the query failed with a message that the data file (on NTFS) where the indexes of the large table resides corrupts. The file no, block no etc are indicated.
I think this is a common problem? Can anyone advise me with some suggestions to proceed?
Say, does it really mean that the data file is really corrupted (since I check v$datafile and the data file status is still "available") ? Are there any NT tools that helps (to repair or to check the data file)? Can I do something in Oracle to repair that portion or mark/skip that portion?
In addition to posting an answer, but forward the answer to me at fan.ho_at_alumni.ust.hk Many many thanks.
Rgds.,
