Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> RAID-0 and hardrive size - HELP
Hi Everyone
I have a question concering RAID-X
From what I understand RAID-0 allows you to combine a set of hardrive (each with their own HD controler) and use striping to combine them and make them seem like 1 big HD.
This is done because it increases I/O access speed.
I am currently thinking of purchaseing a RAID-0 system. My question is I have a bunch of files that is access by a lot of different web servers, which will create a lot of I/O. However, the total size of the files are currently only around 300MB. Does that mean that using a RAID-0 system I won't be able to get the increase in speed, if each of the hardrive is 1GIG is size? Do I need the drives to be smaller than 300MB to make this work?
Because 300MB will fit nicely into one of the 1GIG hardrives?
Please someone correct me if I am wrong, maybe my understanding of how RAID-0 works is false.
Howard
