Snapshot Question

After attending Oracle's replication class, it was my understanding that changes to table structure (i.e. add a column) were indeed replicated. However, in the SingleMaster <-> MultiUpdateableSnapshot environment we are creating, this does not appear to be the case. Does this feature only work between Master sites in Multi-Master environment, or am I just not setting something up correctly?
