16 bit Oracle objects and CreateCustomDynaset

Could someone shed some light on the use of the CreateCustomDynaset using oracle objects in 16bit.

Talking to Oracle Tech support they suggest that the performance when traversing the recordset is equivalent to that of the DAO dynaset using the FillCache method(which works great!). Unfortunately, the oracle way seems to give no visible improvement.
