Access97 connecting to Oracle 7.3

I have a Access97 DB created specifically to create and run queries against several Oracle 7.3 DBs. I have noticed that for any Oracle table created with underscores in the tablename, that Access97 takes an extremely loooooooong time (3 minutes plus) to simply pull up the table in datasheet view. But for any tables without an underscore, it does not take but 3 or 4 seconds to pull the table up in datasheet view and these other tables are 5 times larger than the ones with underscores in the tablename. I can perform queries with SQL*Plus on the tables with underscores in the tablenames and get results back within seconds. Can anyone explain this phenomenon? Is there a bug somewhere in Access97 for linked Oracle 7.3 tables with underscores in the tablename?

very confused
