Creating Crystal Reports menu system

I have been creating Crystal Reports to query an remote Oracle database for about 12 months.

I'm frustrated at having to load Crystal, or run compiled reports (slow) from the desk top, especiallly as this is not user friendly to other members of staff..

Never Having used Visual Basic before though a competent computer user, how easy would it be for a relative novice to create a menu system using Visual Basic to run reports?

Especially running an ODBC link so that a login pasword/name can be entered once on running the programme.
