I received this same solution from Oracle Support, so it seems to be supported. I have a need to convert a US7ASCII database to WE8ISO8859P1 because the users entered some German characters.

Are there any risks that you can think of? This database supports the Vantive application and it uses LONG and LONG RAW datatypes.
